Barrio Babies is our Breastfeeding Medicine program. We approach feeding as a team sport that involves mom, baby, and their support system. Our goal is effective, comfortable feeding, with production and transfer optimized for baby’s needs and a sustainable plan that supports healthy growth and rest for the entire family.
Underproduction, overproduction, poor latch, inefficient transfer, and related concerns can quickly evolve into medical problems that affect family health and quality of life if left unresolved. Our role is to listen to parental concerns, identify contributing factors, and address issues early and comprehensively before they compound.
Our team provides evidence‑based medical care for feeding‑related concerns and the early challenges many newborns and parents encounter. Visits are intentionally longer than typical specialist appointments, allowing time to listen fully, answer questions thoroughly, and build understanding rather than rushing to conclusions.
This model established a new standard of care in Tucson by addressing feeding, growth, jaundice, parental concerns, and postpartum health together during a single couplet visit. Pediatricians, OB/GYNs, and primary care providers trust us to collaborate in caring for their patients during this brief and important period. Families choose Barrio Babies because they feel heard, supported, and guided by a clear, medically grounded plan.
Many families first search for breastfeeding support, lactation support, or postpartum support. We provide that support through a medically grounded couplet model that evaluates mom and baby together.
