Prepare for Your Visit

Preparing ahead of time helps your visit run smoothly and allows our team to focus fully on you and your baby.

Preparing for a breastfeeding medicine couplet visit with self check in and portal guidance.

Self Check‑In is Required for All Visits

Please complete self check‑in as soon as you can. This can be done up to 72 hours prior to your appointment and if not completed prior to arrival can be completed in our lobby.

This saves you from juggling diaper bags, babies, and paperwork when you arrive. For many families, this is the first trip out of the house with a brand‑new baby, and we want to minimize stress in what can be an inherently stressful period of life.

When self check‑in is complete, including insurance card photos, we can often room you immediately and expedite the visit.

Tip: Have your photo ID, Insurance card & credit/debit/HSA card, and phone easily accessible just in case the self check-in process with incomplete.

Portal Accounts

For Breastfeeding Medicine visits, when creating portal accounts or scheduling visits, always use mom demographic information.

Do not create a separate portal account or appointment for your baby. Utilize any available notes sections to provide baby's demographic information (first name, last name, date of birth) during scheduling and check-in.

Our staff will create baby's portal account and link it to parents. Parents can switch between their account and their child's by clicking on their name/initials in the top right corner.

Portal accounts are important as they ensure you have access to your visit summary, provider instructions, results, resolve any patient balances after insurance claim processing, schedule follow-up appointments, and securely message our team if needed.

Late Cancellations, No-Shows & Fairness to ALL Our Patients

Please confirm your appointment at least 24 hours in advance. Appointments not confirmed 24 hours in advance may be cancelled for lack of patient response and may be subject to fees.

Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice and no‑shows are subject to a $50 fee (per couplet). This policy exists to ensure access for other families who may urgently need feeding or newborn care.

We know it can be difficult to get out of the house postpartum. If something changes, please contact us as early as possible so we can offer the time to another family.

Home Visit Dispatch Rule

For home visits, self check‑in must be completed before our provider is dispatched.

If self check‑in is incomplete, the visit may be cancelled and the late cancellation fee may apply.

Self Check‑In is Required for All Visits

Please complete self check-in as soon as you can. It saves you from juggling paperwork when you arrive and helps us start on time. When self check-in is completed, including insurance card photos when applicable, we can often room you quickly and keep the visit focused.

Self check-in also prevents last minute issues that can delay care.

Tip: Have your photo ID, Insurance card & credit/debit/HSA card, and phone easily accessible just in case the self check-in process with incomplete.

Late Cancellations, No-Shows

We reserve time specifically for you. Late cancellations and missed visits prevent other patients from receiving care and create gaps that are difficult to fill.

Please confirm your appointment at least 24 hours in advance. If you need to cancel or reschedule, please do so at least 24 hours before your appointment.

A $50 late cancellation fee applies when:

  • An appointment is cancelled with less than 24 hours notice
  • A patient does not attend a scheduled visit
  • Required self check-in is not completed and the visit cannot proceed as scheduled

If something changes, contact us as early as possible so we can offer the time to another patient.

Insurance and Billing

Barrio Balance+ is our Functional Medicine program. Insurance coverage for Functional Medicine and hormone-related care can be inconsistent and varies by plan. Because of that, self pay is often the most predictable option.

Self Pay (Preferred)

Self pay provides clarity up front and avoids delayed or denied claims. Discounted self pay rates may be available for prompt payment.

Self pay pricing:

  • Initial visit: $350
  • Follow-up visit: $150

When We Bill Insurance

In some situations, we may bill insurance when we are reasonably confident that benefits will apply appropriately for the services being provided. Insurance decisions and patient responsibility are determined by the insurance carrier and your specific plan.

If insurance is billed, a card on file is required. Any portion not covered by insurance will be charged to the card on file after insurance processing.
